Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Job title continuation: Includes Secondary Science.
  • Lead the students, staff and community at South Gate Middle School toward improved academic success in Mathematics and Science.
  • Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of Mathematics and Science teachers. Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
  • Ensure that student achievement data drives instructional decisions. Design collaborative standards-based professional learning.
  • Provide ongoing, job-embedded professional learning opportunities that deepen teacher understanding of differentiated instruction within grade-level standards and content.
  • Delivery of professional development in problem solving method, analysis of data, differentiated instruction and strategies, and progress monitoring.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. Intergrate writing and literacy strategies into the Mathemtics and Science curriculum.
  • Facilitate classroom observations to improve instruction. Model continuous and effective learning that supports integration and collaboration with teachers to determine those approaches which best meet student needs.
  • Provide trainings and workshops for parents/guardians on the intervention model and how to support students at home.
  • Supports leadership team in the creation and evaluation of the schools professional development plan with specific, measureable and attainable benchmarks for teachers and students (AALT and Viking Scholar Program/Intervention Program).Integrate writing and literacy strategies into the Mathematics and Science curriculum.
    • Minimum Requirements:
  • Permanent Certificated Status in LAUSD or another school district.
  • Must have received
  • Appropriate certification to teach English learners (BCLAD, CLAD, BCC).
  • Valid teaching credential
  • Conduct demonstration lessons and assists with curriculum and pacing of programs to ensure that adopted mathematics materials are used as designed.

  • Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom practitioners.
  • Collaborative team building skills.
  • Skills in analyzing data to support staff training and inform instruction.
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and flexibility.
