general description

A transfer refers to a change of a contract employee’s assigned school or time reporting location, without changing the employee’s classification or employment.

If you are currently a Los Angeles Unified School District teacher and would like to transfer to another LAUSD School, you may be eligible to apply for one of the following teacher-initiated transfer opportunities:

voluntary teacher initiated transfer program

The following program description conforms to the guidelines and is subject to the provisions cited in the 2000-2003 District-UTLA Agreement, Article XI, Section 5.0, Hours, Duties and Work Hours. Click here to view the contract.

All appropriately credentialed probationary or permanent teachers are eligible to apply to any school in the district where the transfer will not adversely affect teacher integration, Rodriguez compliance, bilingual Master Plan needs of the receiving or sending school or the instructional program needs of the sending school.

Transfers under this section must meet the above criteria but will not be effected without the voluntary approval of both the employee and the site administrator of the receiving school (or site selection committee in those schools with staff selection rights). Such approval lies within the discretion of both parties and transfers under this section are not subject to the grievance procedure.
