There is no compulsory retirement age mandated by the District.
Employees planning to retire should, approximately 150 workdays before the anticipated retirement date, request from the Certificated Placement Office (333 S. Beaudry Ave., 15th Floor) a retirement packet which includes an Application for Retirement (Form MS-0059), the STRS Federal Withholding Preference Certificate (Form AD-0908), a Certificated Resignation Form (Form 8152), and the Hospital-Medical / Dental Coverage Forms (HI-22 and HI-51).
A retiring employee must submit the Certificated Resignation Form (Form 8152) to his / her immediate administrator no later than one month before retirement and forward it to the Certificated Placement Office, Room P-201 for processing.
The effective date of the resignation must be one day prior to the retirement date sent to STRS.

Retirement Forms may be submitted at any time.

Q. I am going to retire. Do I need to wait for the end of a school year or track?
A. No. If you wish to retire from LAUSD, you can do so at any time. There are retirement counselors to assist you with your retirement planning. To make an appointment contact STRS. Remember, you should resign from the District on one day and retire the next day.
