Q: When can I expect to receive payment for scholarship/tuition reimbursement?
A: A request for payment must be submitted to the Career Ladder Office before payment is made.  If all documentation and supporting paperwork have been submitted before the deadline, then payment should be received on the next paycheck.

Q: Can I receive retroactive payment for tuition reimbursement, test prep, and test reimbursement?
A:
Yes, if you are an active Career Ladder participant and only for reimbursements for which the deadline for application has not passed. Deadlines

Q: Do I have to be a Career Ladder member to participate in the scholarship program?

Q: If I am receiving financial aid from my school, can I still receive financial assistance from the Career Ladder?  (FAFSA is not financial aid.  It is a form that is submitted to apply for financial aid.)

Q: I have been working for LAUSD for many years, do I still need to pay back the money I received from the scholarship program if I do not become a teacher?

Q: I am a Career Ladder scholarship recipient working as a substitute. Does that count towards paying what I owe?

Q: Can I be in both the scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs?
A: No.

Q: After I have completed a BA can I still receive money from the Career Ladder?
A: Yes. You can receive money as long as you are employed by LAUSD as a paraeducator and in a credential program.

Q: Can I receive money while I am on leave?
A: This depends on the type of leave. Please contact the Career Ladder Office to discuss your situation.

Q: Do I have to pay back money received from the Career Ladder if I do not become a LAUSD teacher?
A: Yes. If you received tuition reimbursement, you are required to work as a LAUSD teacher for two years. If you were on a Career Ladder scholarship (formerly CSPTTP), you are required to work as a LAUSD teacher for one year for each year of support you received.

  1. CBEST Test Reimbursement Form
  2. Copy of test scores

To request reimbursement for Test Preparation courses within 1 year of course completion, please submit:

  1. Test Preparation Reimbursement Form
  2. Course bulletin/flyer/syllabus
  3. Receipt of payment
