CBEST Test Fees

The Career Ladder reimburses members for the CBEST test fee.  

• Members may receive a $40 reimbursement for CBEST fees two (2) times regardless of the results 
• Participants must be at Ladder Level 2 or above
• Submit a copy of test scores along with the CBEST Test reimbursement form within a year of the test date

Test Preparation Courses

When the Career Ladder was initiated in 1994, few agencies were offering preparation for the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) and the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET). For that reason, the Career Ladder Office began to organize seminars.  Now, test preparation is offered at almost every California State University and community college in the area. As of  July 1, 2000, the Career Ladder discontinued offering Test Preparation Seminars and began reimbursing most of the cost of seminars/classes taken by participants through a local college or university or approved agency.

Amount of Reimbursement

$125 for CBEST preparation (maximum)
$150 for CSET preparation (maximum)

Requirements for Test Preparation Reimbursement

The class must be offered through a local college or university and the individual must:

• Be a member of the LAUSD Paraeducator Career Ladder
• For CBEST: be at Level 2 or above
• For CSET: be at Ladder Level 3 or above
• Course must be offered by a local college or university (Provide course bulletin or flyer for verification)
• Submit Test Preparation Reimbursement form along with an original receipt for the class taken
• Request must be received within a year of course completion
