Welcome to the Early Childhood Education Branch, Human Resources Unit web page. 
The mission of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Branch, Human Resources Unit is to provide support to the early education centers by employing highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals, who will serve as positive, caring role models for young children, while assisting them in achieving their highest potential.

The Early Childhood Education Branch, Human Resources Office recruits and employs applicants for certificated and classified positions.

Periodically, administrative positions become available at the early education centers. Information regarding these positions may be obtained by visiting the Administrative Selection and Assignment Unit's web page.

New Teacher Applicants

Childhood Education Teacher

ECE Teacher Requirements
  • At least 60 semester units from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of 24 semester units in Child Development
  • 175 days of paid experience or a one semester college-level practicum working with children between 18 months and 8 years old
  • Passage of the LAUSD eligibility screening which includes an interview, a writing sample and a written exam on principles of early childhood education 
Upon application and submission of current transcripts, ECE staff will determine if the candidate meets the unit and experience requirements.  Candidates who meet the basic requirements will be invited to the eligibility screening.

EARLY EDUCATION CENTER AIDE I/AIDE II

Download ECE Aide Application and submit it along wwith proof of high school diploma or equivalent.  Original High School Diploma, or proof of GED, or 12 semester units of college course work with a grade of “C” or better, verified by official transcripts.  Transcripts for course work taken outside of the United States must be evaluated by an accredited agency.  You may contact our office for a list of agencies.
