 ECE Teachers Process for Employment

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Early Education Centers.  In an effort to expedite your employment processing, please submit the following documents to the Early Childhood Education Division, Human Resources Unit.  

 

ECE Probationary Teachers Process
Probationary Teacher:
 

§  Submit completed two sided application. Signed and dated.

§   Provide one set of sealed official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended that reflects a BA

   degree.

§   24 semester units of Child Development course work.

§   Provide a copy of your valid Child Development Permit.

§   Provide two sets of sealed official transcripts if you do not currently have a valid Child Development 

   Permit and will be applying through our district.

§   If you will be applying for a Child Development Permit through our district, you must submit the

   “Verification of Experience” form.  Employment verification cannot be accepted in lieu of letter(s) of

   experience.

§   175 days of experience in an early childhood licensed classroom, or ECE field course work from an

   accredited college or university.

§   Provide original letter(s) of recommendation/reference on letterhead stationery must reflect your most

   recent five (5) years of employment and related experiences, signed by a site administrator.

§    Additional letter(s) of recommendation may be required after a review of your application.

§   Provide a current certification or card showing completion of a 15 hours course in Pediatric CPR and

   First Aid training.

§   Special note:  If you completed college or university course work at an institution in a country other than

   the United States, you must have the course work evaluated by the International Education Research

   Foundation Inc., or another approved organization.  These organizations are private agencies and do

   charge a fee for their service.

§   Once your application and documents have been received and reviewed, you will be contacted to

   schedule an interview.

§   You must attend a scheduled two day Teacher’s Orientation before you can start in your contracted

   assignment.

§   You must be finger printed for FBI and DOJ by district for employment.

§     A physical and Tuberculosis (TB) screening is required, please wait for additional information.

§    You will be scheduled for the required exams; Early Education Center Teacher and the English Usage. 

    You must pass both exams to continue to the next processing step.

§     This office will mail form 2405, Confidential Reference to your Administrator to be completed and mailed

    back.

§     Scores from your oral interview, two exams and Confidential Reference form will be compiled into one

    score, which will place you on the Eligibility List.

§     You will be invited from this office to interview for your first four hour position.

§     Once you sign your first four hour position, you may apply for your second four hour contract on your

    own from the listings posted at the Early Education Centers.

§     Incomplete application packets will not be accepted nor reviewed. 

 

ECE Substitute Teachers Process
Substitute Teacher:
  

§     Submit completed two sided application.  Signed and dated.

§     Provide one set of sealed official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended that reflects an

    AA degree or 60 units.

§     12 semester units of Child Development course work.

§     Provide a copy of your valid Child Development Permit.

§     Provide two sets of sealed official transcripts if you do not currently have a valid Child Development

    Permit and will be applying through our district.

§     If you will be applying for a Child Development Permit through our district, you must submit the

    “Verification of Experience” form.  Employment verification cannot be accepted in lieu of letter(s) of

    experience.

§     50 days of experience in an early childhood licensed classroom, or ECE field course work from an

    accredited college or university.

§     Provide original letter(s) of recommendation/reference on letterhead stationery must reflect your most

    recent five (5) years of employment and related experiences, signed by a site administrator.

§     Additional letter(s) of recommendation may be required after a review of your application.

 ECE Aides Process for Employment

Los Angeles Unified School District, Early Childhood Education is currently hiring for the following substitute positions:

                              

EARLY EDUCATION CENTER AIDE I  

r                 Call Human Resources office to schedule an appointment for an interview (213) 241-2404.  All applicants must be 18 years old at time of application.

 

MUST bring following documents: 

r                 Original High School Diploma, or proof of GED, or 12 semester units of college course work with a grade of “C” or better, verified by official transcripts.  Transcripts for course work taken outside of the United States must be evaluated by an accredited agency.  You may contact our office for a list of agencies.

r                 A money order in the amount of $15.00  (no personal checks accepted).

r                 Original Driver’s License or California I.D. Card.

r                 Original Social Security Card (Laminated Social Security cards will not be accepted).

r                 Original Work Authorization Card issued by the Department of Immigration (if applicable).

 

To apply for a permanent position: 

r                 Speak with the Administrator of Sites where you work regarding your desire to be permanent.

r                 The Administrator will contact Human Resources regarding filling their vacant positions. 

 

 To apply for an Aide II position: 

r                 Call Human Resources office to schedule an appointment for an interview (213) 241-2404. All applicants must be 18 years old at time of application. 

 

MUST bring following documents:

r                 Official transcripts verifying 12 semester college units in early childhood course work from and accredited college or university.  These courses must include Child Growth and Development and Child and Family Relations and two preschool curriculum courses.

r                 Original Driver’s License or California I.D. Card.

r                 Original Social Security Card (Laminated Social Security cards will not be accepted).

r                 Original Work Authorization Card issued by the Department of Immigration (if applicable).
