Teacher Recruitment: LAUSD encourages all Secondary and Special Education Teachers to apply online for openings for the 2009-2010 school year. Applying early is important. Check our recruitment calendar to see if a recruiter will be in your area. If you need additional information not found on this web site, please call (213) 241-5300 or (800) 832-2452.

Math & Science Initiative: An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 17th at 10:00 a.m. for Math and Science majors and individuals with math and science backgrounds interested in teaching. Positions are available in our middle and senior high schools now. In order to register and obtain meeting location information, please call (213) 241-5300.

Special Education Initiative: An informational meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8th for those considering a career in the field of Special Education. Topics will include the employment process, special education credentialing opportunities, as well as teaching special education in the District. Individuals with related experiences and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of special education students are invited to register for the meeting by contacting Doreen Mendoza at careersinsped@lausd.net.

New security procedures at Beaudry Headquarters: Effective June 16, 2008, the District will be utilizing a new visitor management system. In order to gain entrance to the building, visitors will be required to present a valid picture identification to security staff in the lobby.

Attention Foreign Language; Mandarin Teachers. The LAUSD is seeking teachers in the subject area of Foreign Language; Mandarin for the 2008-2009 school year. Candidates who hold or qualify for a California Preliminary or Clear Credential in Foreign Language Mandarin are encouraged to apply now.

Candidates who do not have a credential in this subject area may be considered for employment under alternative certification. Minimum requirements include a BA/BS, passage of the CBEST examination, and a minimum of 18 semester units in Mandarin. Successful completion of all three parts of the CSET single subject Mandarin examination may be used in lieu of the units. Candidates who meet these requirements are encouraged to apply online.
