All Provisional, Pre-Intern, and University
Intern Contracts are
valid for a period of up to one year and expire each year on
June 30th. To continue contract employment, you must meet District
contract renewal requirements.
EXTENDING YOUR CONTRACT BEYOND
JUNE 30th
(With a Certificate / Permit Expiring On or After October
1st)
A contract can only be extended to the ending date of your certificate/permit.
If your certificate / permit expires on
or after October 1st, an extension of your existing contract can
be
issued to cover the
time between the ending date of your contract and the ending date
of your certificate / permit.
A recent satisfactory evaluation (within the current semester)
from your school site administrator is required before your contract
can be extended beyond June 30th.
Once a current evaluation is received from your administrator,
a reoffer letter and contract will be mailed to you.
When you receive the reoffer packet:

Fill out the entire bottom
section of the contract (signature, date, home address, and
telephone number). |
2. |
Complete Form 1282 (green). |
3. |
Return the yellow and white copies
of the contract along with Form
1282 in the envelope provided. |
4. |
Keep the pink copy of your contract
for you records. Show your copy of the contract to the school
site administrative assistant. |
RENEWING YOUR CONTRACT AND CERTIFICATE / PERMIT BEYOND JUNE 30TH
(With
a Certificate / Permit Expiring Before October 1st) A recent satisfactory evaluation (within the current
semester) from your school site administrator is required before
your teaching certificate/permit can be renewed and your contract
can be extended beyond June 30th. Once a current satisfactory evaluation
is received from your administrator, a re-offer letter and credential
renewal packet will be mailed to you. Go to 333 S. Beaudry Ave.,
15th floor, to Certificated Credential and Contract Office with
the following items:

Your expiring certificate / permit |
3. |
Completed certificate / permit application forms |
4. |
Form CL469 signed by appropriate university
official or if a pre-intern, a Certificate of Completion from
the Pre-Intern
Teaching Program and official verification of having taken
the subject matter examination(s) (CSET) during
the year |
5. |
U.S. Postal Money order for $55.00 (Payable to the California
Commission on Teacher Credentialing) |
6. |
Verification of New Teacher Orientation or Teacher Training
Academy (if this is a first time Emergency Permit renewal) |
7. |
Complete set of official transcripts if you are currently
teaching Special Education with a provisional waiver. |
8. |
Complete Form
1282 (green) |
9. |
Sign and complete the entire bottom section of the contract
(signature, date, home address, and telephone number) |
Take an original copy of your recent transcripts to the Salary
Allocation Office, located on the 14th floor.
For your convenience, four Saturday renewal dates are available
every year (two are held in June, one in August, and one in January).
