Q. Do I have a say in what school or area I will work?
A. Yes. When you are cleared to receive the names of schools that have vacancies, you will work with our Referral Unit. You can tell them what area(s) you are most interested in and they will release the names of schools in those areas that have vacancies. The unit will also assist / advise you in how to obtain an interview at the school.

Q. Do our transcripts need to be sealed?
A. No. However, transcripts will need to have the official university “seal”.

Q. What is the employment process?
A. Certificated / credentialed teachers can visit http://www.teachinla.com/teachinla/credentialed.html to learn the steps required for employment. Candidates not fully certificated / licensed should visit http://www.teachinla.com/teachinla/noncredentialed.html .

Q. What do I do after I have been placed on an Employment list?
A. Once approved for employment, you are placed on a list for one calendar year. During that year you can contact the Referral Unit to learn if there are any vacancies and how to schedule an appointments. The telephone number of the Referral Unit will be provided to you.

Q. I can't find a position. May I process as a substitute?
A. Substitutes are added to our roster on an as needed basis. Check http://www.teachinla.com/substitute to learn if we are adding substitutes at this time.

Q. Can the initial interview be done over the phone?
A. The initial interview is conducted face to face. In rare instances, an initial interview can be conducted via web-based video conferencing.

FAQs for out-of-state candidates

Q. Are there relocation stipends or hiring bonuses available for teachers hired from outside of California?
A.At the current time there are no funds available to provide relocation funds or hiring bonuses.

Q. Does LAUSD provide assistance in purchasing a home?
A. The Los Angeles Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program (LATMAP) assists all LAUSD employees in finding the best possible route to home ownership . Please visit the web site at www.latmap.com .

A. Candidates, who possess a state issued license that can be transitioned to California will be given one year to complete the CBEST examination.

Q. I've forgotten my username and password. Is there any way you can tell me my username and password for the online application I already submitted?
A. Yes. Please go to the login page for the online application: https://www.weteachla.com/ats/app_login.shtml?COMPANY_ID=00001364 . Click on the link that says 'Forgot your password?'. You can enter EITHER your username or your e-mail address, and you will receive a reply containing both your username and password.

Q. I completed an online application last year. Will I need to fill out a new one?
A. No. You can log on and update the information.
