Participants in the District Intern Program
do not incur costs for training, registration, or parking
provided
that they fulfill the commitment to teach within the District
one additional year following completion of the program.
However,
purchase of reading textbooks is required. Access to a computer
and printer will be needed to fulfill professional development
plan requirements.
Support
Each District Intern receives assistance
and guidance from an experienced support provider throughout
the entire training period. Classes are taught by experienced
practitioners.
Salary
District Interns are placed on the same
salary table as all other contracted teachers in alternative
certification programs.
CENTSE District Interns are placed on
the same salary table as all other contracted probationary
teachers.
Previous experience, college units,
and advance degree(s) may enhance entry-level salary.
Credits earned for completion of classes
in the Professional Development Plan will apply toward salary
advancement.
Seniority Date
District Interns receive a seniority
date on the first day of paid service.
Upon completion of the District Intern
Program, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
(CCTC) awards District Interns the same credential awarded
to teachers who complete a traditional university teacher
preparation program.
