  • Speech & Language Pathologist - Speech and Language Pathology continues to be a high need area for LAUSD. A Master of Arts in Communication Disorders is a requirement to qualify as a Speech and Language Pathologist. There is currently an LAUSD cohort of teachers completing the Bachelor's prerequisites through CSU Dominguez Hills. Many Cal State University campuses and numerous Private Universities have programs in Communicative Disorders. Please contact these universities for information.

  • Teaching Other Subjects -

      • Elementary Teachers, have you considered teaching 7th/8th grade mathematics or science? Teachers with Multiple Subject Credentials may wish to consider earning a Single Subject Math/Science Foundations Credential. For more information on how to earn a single subject credential, click here.


      • Biology Teachers, have you considered teaching chemistry or physics? The hiring needs for LAUSD in Science lie at the secondary level (Grades 7-12) in the areas of chemistry and physics. Teachers with a Single Subject Biology credential can add additional subject authorizations to their credential. For more information on how to add a chemistry/physics authorization, click here.


      • Secondary Teachers, are you interested in teaching special education in the areas of mild-to-moderate or moderate-to-severe? Teachers with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in the subjects of English, Math, Science or Social Science may be eligible to apply to the District Intern Program for Credentialed Educators Now Teaching Special Education (CENTSE). For more information regarding the District's credentialing program, click here.

    These options are available to teachers who already possess a valid Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. If you have a degree or coursework in another subject, other than the area of your credential you may also be eligible for a Subject Matter Authorization/Supplementary Authorization.
