California certification to pass the California Basic Educational
Skills Test (CBEST). If you possess a California administrative
credential, but have not worked in a California public school
within the past 39 months, you also will be required to take

Salary
ranges for principal and assistant principal positions
vary by school location.Compensation
is based upon several factors including school type (e.g.
elementary/secondary), school calendar (e.g. traditional/year
round), and management challenge (e.g. staff size/activities
and programs).Refer
to the Master
Salary Table for current salary ranges. Elementary
assistant principals are in the range of schedules 37/38;
elementary principals are schedule 40-44; secondary assistant
principals are schedule 39/40; and secondary principals
are schedule 44-47.
